Zed Expands to Cover Over 80% of Dubai’s Taxi Fleet

Zed, the homegrown ride-hailing app, now hosts more than 80% of the city’s taxis. Through partnerships with Dubai Taxi Corporation and National Taxi, alongside its existing collaboration with Kabi by Al Ghurair, Zed has expanded its fleet to 10,764 vehicles, making it the second-largest host of taxis in the Emirate.

The announcement speaks to a broader shift in how Dubai approaches everyday transport. By integrating its technology with fleets that already form the backbone of daily commuting, Zed is offering more than scale. The platform promises faster arrival times, fewer cancellations, and greater availability, particularly in neighbourhoods that often sit outside the focus of ride-hailing services.

At its heart, the initiative reflects a distinctly Emirati approach that combines local innovation with proven infrastructure. Badr Al Ghurair, CEO of Zed, described it as an extension of the company’s 25 years of mobility experience. He said:

“This collaboration with DTC and National Taxi strengthens Dubai’s mobility ecosystem while ensuring that communities have access to the reliable, everyday transport solutions they deserve.”

For drivers, the partnership represents a significant integration into the digital space. Taxi operators already trusted by millions of passengers will now be available through Zed’s mobile app, offering convenience for commuters and continuity for drivers whose work remains central to the city’s daily rhythm.

The platform also signals where urban mobility in Dubai is headed. With features such as guaranteed punctual pickups for pre-scheduled premium rides and future plans for loyalty rewards, digital wallets, and lifestyle partnerships, Zed is positioning itself as part of a wider cultural and economic network. Abhinav Patwa, Executive Vice President and Head of Zed, framed the collaboration within a larger philosophy. “Mobility should serve the city, not the other way around,” he noted, emphasising a community-first model that seeks to balance efficiency with human connection.

This expansion also dovetails with Dubai’s Smart City 2025 vision, in which the Roads and Transport Authority has set the target of shifting 80 percent of taxi bookings to e-hailing platforms. By adopting an app-only model and integrating electric and hybrid vehicles from its new partners, Zed is aligning with the emirate’s environmental ambitions as well as its technological ones.

For Dubai residents, the outcome is practical. Easier access to taxis, shorter wait times, and a single platform that consolidates the fleets of the city’s most established operators. For the city itself, it is a signal that mobility is not only about moving people from one point to another but about building a resilient, technology-led infrastructure that reflects Dubai’s values of foresight and innovation.
