Dubai will once again welcome the world’s best golfers this January as European Ryder Cup star Tyrrell Hatton returns to Emirates Golf Club to defend his Hero Dubai Desert Classic title. The tournament, taking place from 22 to 25 January 2026, marks the first Rolex Series event of the new season and promises a showcase of precision that defines championship golf.
Hatton, who secured the decisive half point in Europe’s Ryder Cup victory at Bethpage Black, will tee up alongside Rory McIlroy, the reigning Masters champion and career Grand Slam winner. Their return signals another world-class field for the event often referred to as the Major of the Middle East, a cornerstone of the DP World Tour calendar since 1989.
For Hatton, Dubai has always held a sense of symmetry. His victory in January, a one-stroke triumph marked by four consistent rounds, became a defining moment in a season that included a top-four finish at the U.S. Open and strong performances at both The Masters and The Open Championship. His return this year carries not only momentum but also a certain familiarity with a course that continues to complement his game.
“It’s always good to go back to a place where you’ve won before,” Hatton shared. “The Hero Dubai Desert Classic has been incredibly special for me, and I’m looking forward to defending my title after what has been an unforgettable year.”
Beyond the fairways, the Hero Dubai Desert Classic is an event built around more than sport. Its Tournament Town has become a destination in its own right, an open-air celebration of Dubai’s culture, complete with live music, art installations, wellness activations, and gourmet food experiences. Designed for both families and fans, the atmosphere reflects Dubai’s broader ethos: world-class excellence paired with a deep sense of accessibility.
Early bird tickets are already in demand, with general admission free on Thursday and Friday and weekend access starting from AED 75. The hospitality experiences, The Dallah Lounge and The Social on Sixteen, have also become key highlights for those seeking a refined vantage point over the greens. The Dallah Lounge offers an all-day culinary experience set between the 9th and 18th greens, while The Social on Sixteen returns overlooking the iconic 16th hole, double in size and equally immersive.
Now entering its 37th edition, the Hero Dubai Desert Classic remains one of the most respected tournaments in professional golf. It continues to set the standard for sustainability, being the only GEO-certified golf event in the Middle East.
Simon Corkill, Executive Tournament Director, described Hatton’s return as a symbol of continuity and excellence.
“The Hero Dubai Desert Classic stands as one of the premier events in world golf. To have Tyrrell back to defend his title alongside some of the game’s finest players reinforces the calibre of competition we aim to deliver. With expanded experiences on and off the course, 2026 will be a truly exceptional edition.”
