Arada Awards AED145 Million Contract for Aljada Sports Park Sharjah

In Sharjah, a new kind of energy is taking shape. The hum of construction at Aljada, the AED35 billion megaproject by Arada, now carries the rhythm of something vibrant and alive – a destination designed not just for living, but for movement. This week, Arada announced a AED145 million contract to build what will become the community’s next architectural and cultural landmark: a 400,000-square-foot sports and leisure park, unlike anything the emirate has seen before.

Set for completion by the end of 2026, the upcoming sports complex will become the beating heart of Aljada’s vision, an urban space that fuses lifestyle, wellness, and design in equal measure. Conceived as both a performance arena and a community playground, it will feature a full-sized football pitch, smaller 5-a-side grounds, and courts for basketball, padel tennis, volleyball, squash, and badminton. Surrounding it, landscaped jogging and cycling tracks will wind through lush greenery, while adventure play zones invite younger residents to connect with movement and imagination.

The project’s AED145 million contract has been awarded to Civic Builders Trading & Contracting LLC, a Dubai-based contractor that has already broken ground on the site. Beneath the expansive park will lie two full levels of underground parking – a detail that blends practical urban planning with Aljada’s philosophy of seamless accessibility. Visitors and residents alike will be able to transition easily from home to leisure, from stillness to sport.

As a development, Aljada has never been about building a city – it’s been about building a lifestyle. The sports park continues this narrative, complementing an existing ecosystem that includes the Madar Mall retail and entertainment district, SABIS International School-Aljada, and an upcoming cultural and performing arts centre designed by the legendary Japanese architect Tadao Ando. Each of these projects feeds into Arada’s vision of a city that inspires connection: between residents, with nature, and through design.

“The delivery of this world-class sports complex is in line with our goal to enable an active, healthy lifestyle for residents and visitors to Aljada,” said Ahmed Alkhoshaibi, Group CEO of Arada. “It’s another addition to the world-class amenities we continue to build across the community, which consistently enhance quality of life and increase long-term value for our homeowners.”

Beyond sports, the park will also serve as a destination for leisure and community interaction. Plans include two F&B outlets, one of which will host Reformatory Lab, an acclaimed Australian coffee concept recently introduced to the UAE. Water play zones, shaded rest areas, and open event spaces will round out the park’s offering, creating a dynamic environment where families, athletes, and visitors can gather in the same space for different reasons, all drawn by the same design philosophy: to live well and live active.

Sharjah’s growing population and its reputation as the UAE’s cultural capital have created demand for spaces that go beyond residential and retail. Arada’s sports park answers that need with a development that encourages everyday movement as part of urban life. In the words of Alkhoshaibi, it’s about creating “a city that inspires healthier, happier, and more meaningful lives.”

Spanning 24 million square feet, Aljada is one of the UAE’s most ambitious mixed-use master plans. Once complete, it will comprise 25,000 homes, alongside a futuristic business park, hospitality zones, health and education hubs, and green corridors that weave through the city. More than 7,500 homes have already been delivered, with 2,000 more under construction. The community now welcomes over 20,000 residents, making it one of the fastest-growing destinations in the Northern Emirates.

As Sharjah positions itself as both a cultural and lifestyle destination, Aljada is fast becoming its new epicentre – a space where architecture, community, and wellbeing converge. The new sports park captures this ethos perfectly. It’s not just an addition to the skyline; it’s a living space designed for vitality, where the future of Sharjah is built around people in motion.
