OMEGA Releases the New Planet Ocean, Led by Glen Powell

This week in Miami, OMEGA released the 4th generation of its Planet Ocean collection, marking 20 years of the maison’s most spirited diving icon. Held at the architecturally striking Faena Forum, the launch combined Swiss art with Miami’s modernist glamour in a setting defined by circular geometry, angled windows, and the soft reflection of water on every surface.

A Space Built for Storytelling

The venue itself became part of the narrative. Inside, the minimalist Forum was transformed into an immersive marine world: panoramic water projections, blue and orange lighting, and a central display of the full Planet Ocean line.

Glen Powell: The New Face of the Planet Ocean

The evening’s guest of honour was Glen Powell, OMEGA’s newly appointed Brand Ambassador. Effortlessly charismatic, Powell anchors the global Planet Ocean campaign, bringing the same versatility he’s known for across action, drama, comedy, and romance.

There’s a modern look to the new watches, but you feel the legacy behind it,” he told guests.

His appearance alongside longtime OMEGA friends of the brand, including Colman Domingo, Mondo Duplantis, Antoni Porowski, Diego Boneta, Jacob Rott, Inoxtag, and others, underscored the maison’s global cultural reach.

A Reinvention 20 Years in the Making

Launched exactly two decades after the first Planet Ocean debuted in 2005, the new redesign modernises an icon without abandoning the DNA that defines it, the bold orange, the Seamaster silhouette, the engineering meant for sea and surface alike. Seven versions are now available, in blue, black, or orange, offered on rubber straps or classic stainless steel, a balance of sport and refinement that suits OMEGA’s evolving clientele.

Raynald Aeschlimann, OMEGA President & CEO, spoke to the heart of the redesign:

The Planet Ocean is a symbol of our pioneering spirit… Miami feels like a perfect destination. It has an endless horizon that makes anything feel possible.
A line as fitting for watchmaking as it is for the city itself.

A Modern Diver

If the past two decades of Planet Ocean were defined by capability, this fourth generation introduces something more emotional: a sculptural precision that aligns the watch with contemporary design codes, sharper angles, cleaner proportions, and a stronger interplay between colour and geometry.

With the rise of both water-sport culture and luxury urban wear, the newest Planet Ocean emerges at the intersection of performance and lifestyle, suited to the ocean, yes, but equally at home at a gallery opening, a rooftop bar, or a night like this in Miami Beach.

The Verdict

OMEGA’s unveiling was not simply a product launch; it was a celebration of identity.
Of the sea.
Of engineering.
Of heritage.
And of a watch that has, over 20 years, perfected the art of adventure.
