Private Members UAE gains unprecedented access to the region’s most transformative wellness experience.
In a rare privilege extended to discerning members only, Private Members UAE was granted exclusive access to experience the Kayan Wellness Festival ahead of its public opening this weekend. What we discovered on Fahid Island transcends the typical festival experience.
From February 6th to 8th, thousands will gather at this Abu Dhabi oasis, but we were among the first to walk its grounds, to feel its energy, and to understand why this second edition promises to transform wellness culture in the region.
The Vision Behind Kayan
Niousha Ehsan, CEO and Chief Energy Officer of LINKVIVA, has created something extraordinary. Developed in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism, Kayan, which means ‘being’ in Arabic, showcases more than what a festival is defined as. As Niousha eloquently articulated during her opening address at the media preview, “Kayan is meant to be felt, not seen, but experienced.”

This philosophy permeates every element of the festival, from its architectural design to its carefully designed programming. The focus on mind, body, and soul connection is the living and breathing essence of the space itself rather than just a marketing concept.

A Sanctuary in the UAE
The moment you step onto Fahid Island, geography seems to dissolve. This is neither the UAE nor anywhere else you recognize; it exists in its own dimension, a liminal space designed for guests to be present. The festival grounds unfold like a carefully composed meditation, each element intentional, each vista breathtaking.
The design palette speaks in whispers with sandy beiges, warm creams, and soft earth tones that don’t compete with the landscape but rather embrace it. These colors seem to emerge organically from the sand beneath your feet, while the turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf provide a stunning backdrop that anchors the entire experience. It feels less like a festival venue and more like stepping into a wellness retreat in some distant, undiscovered corner of the world.
The spatial design deserves particular attention. Open yet intimate, the festival creates pockets of experience that feel both communal and personal. A premium lounge offers a sophisticated sanctuary for moments of pause, while numerous seating areas invite reflection and connection throughout the grounds.
The Heart of the Festival
At the center of Kayan lies an area aptly named “The Heart,” which is a circular gathering space that serves as the festival’s emotional and spiritual nucleus. During our preview, we experienced this space come alive with the resonant tones of live guitar and tabla, the musicians creating an ambient soundscape that seemed to pulse in rhythm with the island itself.
This is where festival-goers will gather as participants in a shared journey, engaged in the music or seated for a pause and reflective moment. The Heart hosts performances from acclaimed artists, including Mose, Amaru Tribe, Awarë, Afrosideral, and Holloway, who will transform this space into an immersive sonic experience each evening.
The Three Pillars: Mind, Body, Soul
Kayan’s programming is structured around three distinct hubs, each addressing a different dimension of wellness:
The Mind Amphitheatre
The Mind hub is an architectural triumph, a beautifully conceived amphitheatre crowned with a magnificent floral installation that immediately captures the eye. The stage design balances grandeur with intimacy, offering varied seating configurations that ensure every attendee feels connected to the speakers.

Here, Nada Rassoul, one of the festival’s key voices, shared insights about this year’s elevated speaker lineup. “We continue to raise the bar,” she explained, her enthusiasm palpable. While last year featured an impressive roster, the 2026 edition has secured some of the world’s most sought-after wellness thought leaders.

Headlining the festival is Steven Bartlett, entrepreneur and host of The Diary of a CEO podcast, who will engage in a moderated conversation on February 7th. Survival expert Bear Grylls brings his unique perspective on resilience and mental fortitude. Sophie Grégoire Trudeau joins Nancy Zabaneh for an intimate dialogue on inner peace and collective healing. Marianne Williamson closes the festival with “A Return to Love,” while Peter Crone explores the path to personal freedom.
Additional speakers include Dr. Khaled Ghattas, presenting in Arabic, mountaineer Raha Moharrak discussing her Everest journey, and thought leaders like Maria Conceição on breaking barriers and Leyla Salvade on activating the higher human operating system.
The Body Zone
With the Arabian Gulf as its backdrop, the Body section transforms physical practice into meditation. Here, the boundary between exercise and spiritual practice dissolves entirely. The setting is deliberately chosen; there is something profoundly grounding about practicing yoga, tai chi, or breathwork with the gentle sound of waves in the distance.
The programming ranges from power yoga and Pilates to HIIT workouts and Happy Kung Fu. Immersive breathwork sessions with ice bath experiences, offered by Laura Fontaine of Longevity Wellness Hub, promise visceral transformation. Each class is designed to reconnect participants with their physical bodies as vehicles for consciousness rather than objects to be perfected.
The Soul Sanctuary & Circle
Perhaps the most intimate of the three pillars, the Soul spaces offer deep dive experiences into consciousness and spiritual connection. Against the seascape, participants can engage in Kundalini yoga, sound healing ceremonies, meditation journeys, and cacao ceremonies that draw on ancient wisdom traditions.
Breathwork with Walid Aboulnaga of NAFAS Journeys, five layers of meditation, singing circles, and somatic movement practices create opportunities for profound inner work.
The Longevity Hub: Science Meets Spirit
A standout feature of Kayan 2026 is the Longevity Hub, where forward-thinking health science converges with holistic wellness practices. Here, topics range from peptides and precision medicine to gut health, breathwork for peak performance, and the intersection of ancient wisdom with modern biology.
Sessions explore everything from Traditional Arabic and Islamic Medicine (TAIM) to the evolutionary mismatch affecting modern health, from clean beauty’s impact on longevity to hyperbaric oxygen therapy. This is where Kayan distinguishes itself, refusing to choose between evidence-based science and ancestral knowledge, instead weaving them into a comprehensive understanding of human wellbeing.

Beyond the Main Program: Curated Experiences
Throughout the grounds, you’ll discover thoughtfully designed experiences: tea ceremonies at the Kayan Tea House, coffee olfactory experiences and home brewing workshops by MOKHA1450, reformer Pilates sessions at The Body Zone, and spinning classes at the Bridge Hub.
The Anqa Nest offers one-on-one sessions including art therapy, Ayurvedic consultations, kinesiology, and holistic life coaching. There’s even a Beauty Box providing festival glam, hair braiding, and henna art, because wellness includes feeling beautiful in your own skin.
Cold plunge sessions by Longevity Wellness Hub and gong sound baths by IN TO at the Soul Sanctuary round out the experiential offerings, each designed to complement the main programming and provide moments of profound reset.
Nourishment for Body and Soul
We were fortunate to preview the culinary offerings at Kave, and the experience exceeded expectations. It’s conscious cuisine nourishes without heaviness, delights without excess in each food truck or stall you visit. Each dish reflects the same intentionality that characterizes the entire festival, proving that wellness and culinary pleasure are not mutually exclusive.
The menu features light bites, chai, coconuts, and healthy treats designed to sustain energy throughout long days of workshops and movement. Everything is prepared with an awareness of how food affects not just the body, but the clarity of mind and quality of presence.
What Sets Kayan Apart
The festival refuses to pander to any single wellness tribe. Scientists and shamans share equal billing. Biohackers practice alongside breathwork facilitators. High-intensity workouts coexist with restorative yin yoga. This intellectual and experiential generosity creates space for everyone to find their own way.

Perhaps most importantly, Kayan succeeds in creating genuine community. During our preview, even with a limited number of attendees, the sense of collective intention was palpable. This is a gathering of seekers and leaders, as the festival describes its audience, people willing to do the inner work required for authentic transformation.
A Special Saturday: The Lululemon Takeover
Saturday, February 7th features a unique Lululemon takeover at The Body Zone, with classes led by Maitha Al Matrooshi (HIIT), Karla Perez (Yoga), Raya Al Ashi (Sound Healing), Luan Sebba (HIIT), and Farah Diab (Yoga). This collaboration brings the brand’s community-focused ethos into the Kayan experience, offering another layer of connection for wellness enthusiasts.
Final Reflections
As we departed Fahid Island after our exclusive preview, a profound sense of anticipation lingered. What Niousha Ehsan and her team have created is a portal to possibility.
The festival’s tagline speaks of gathering in a sanctuary where every journey begins uniquely, forming a global collective of seekers and leaders. Having experienced the space firsthand, we can attest: this is not marketing hyperbole. It’s an accurate description of what awaits those who make the pilgrimage to Kayan this weekend.
As the festival itself reminds us: Kayan means ‘being,’ and sometimes, it arrives simply from allowing ourselves to be – fully present, fully open, fully alive.
