Dubai’s House of Habanero Opens a Tasting Room Dedicated Entirely to Heat in Alserkal Avenue

Dubai’s culinary landscape has never been short of flavour, but a new arrival at Alserkal Avenue is pushing things into far bolder territory.

House of Habanero, the UAE-born chilli concept founded by husband-and-wife duo Faisal Al Mutairi and Katy Gillett, has unveiled its first physical outpost in Dubai, a compact yet fiery container space that functions less like a shop and more like a laboratory for spice enthusiasts.

Positioned opposite 1004 Gourmet in the city’s cultural corridor, the new venue introduces what the founders describe as the UAE’s largest curated collection of hot sauces, chilli oils, spicy snacks, and tongue-tingling condiments. But the concept is not about endurance or bravado. It is about exploration.

A Place Where Curiosity Meets Capsaicin

Rather than traditional retail shelving, the container has been designed as a “tasting room”, inviting visitors to sample the entire range before deciding what deserves a place in their kitchen.

The experience moves across a wide spectrum of flavour, from delicate warmth to sauces engineered with some of the planet’s most formidable peppers, including Pepper X and Carolina Reaper, both known for their staggering heat levels.

Yet despite the reputation of those headline ingredients, the majority of the collection leans toward accessibility. Many sauces sit comfortably in the mild-to-medium range, making the space welcoming even for visitors who approach chilli with hesitation.

A Global Pantry of Small-Batch Producers

The inventory reflects a year-long search across continents.

Faisal Al Mutairi personally sampled more than 800 products before narrowing the assortment to the bottles that now line the shelves. The final lineup represents 28 countries, with most items produced by small-scale makers who avoid artificial preservatives and additives.

What emerges is less a conventional condiment shop and more a global pantry of heat, where fermented chilli sauces from Latin America might sit beside Middle Eastern chilli oils and experimental blends from independent artisans.

Clean ingredients and careful sourcing sit at the heart of the concept. The founders emphasise products that are both flavourful and thoughtfully produced, prioritising makers who treat chilli not merely as a source of intensity but as an ingredient capable of nuance.

A Community for Chilli Lovers

Opening a permanent space had been an ambition for the founders since launching the brand online in September 2024.

Since then, House of Habanero has built a loyal following across the UAE and GCC, supplemented by regular weekend appearances at Ripe Market. The Alserkal Avenue store represents the next chapter, and it arrived with immediate enthusiasm. The team recorded their first sale within minutes of opening on 9 March 2026.

Looking ahead, the founders plan to transform the tasting room into a gathering place for the region’s emerging chilli culture. Upcoming events will invite visitors to meet local sauce makers and independent producers, further strengthening Dubai’s growing appetite for craft condiments.

Spice as Culture

What makes the concept particularly fitting for Alserkal Avenue is its alignment with the district’s ethos of experimentation and independent creativity. Just as the neighbourhood champions artists, designers, and home-grown brands, House of Habanero shines a spotlight on niche producers who might otherwise remain under the radar. In a city where global cuisines intersect daily, chilli becomes a common language, crossing borders through fermentation, smoke, citrus, and spice.
